So, I think I was voted release engineer, right?

Whoever, is, before we release, proper, we have a few items of business to resolve. I think I am still going to turn the crank on an RC1 release, even without these resolutions (mostly to get some practice with the release cycle, but also to give folks a chance to start testing). But we should resolve the open issues sometime between RC1 and the release. It's okay by me if we iterate through an RC2 -- is that okay with others?

So, here are the outstanding issues:

The following have had patches applied, but should be reviewed before the Jira tickets are closed off:

http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-111

Could the developers review the changes that went in with this ticket?

Among the list of bugs we'd been considering to fix for 1.5.4, we have:

http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-23 should be closable
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-63 no permission granted
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-64 should be closable
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-94 no permission granted
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-99 should be closable

I'd like to propose that we all review the closable ones in this list, and vote one way or another whether we can close them (I'll start by voting +1 for "close them").

For the "no permission granted" bugs, I propose we not fix these for the release.

The following bugs towards 1.5.4 have been closed, either with fixes or as duplicates:

http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-112
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WSS-113

Note that there are still a number of outstanding issues in WSS (about 25 or so) that we have not addressed for this release, and which will need to wait for 1.5.5, or 2.0.

Thanks!
