In case anyone missed my comment on WSS-204, I've decided not to apply the patch to process SAML 2 tokens in the 1.5.x branch. The reasons I gave are outlined here:

I plan to push ahead and get a 1.5.9 release out in the next few weeks, as it's been well over a year since 1.5.8 and there are already 25 fixed issues since 1.5.8.
