Yes, it's true .... both, that we've formally announced WTP 1.5.4
(newsgroup text below)
and that there will be a WTP 1.5.5!

John Lanuti will be soon be proposing for review a detailed schedule for
WTP 1.5.5,
but it will follow the familar pattern. For most teams, we recommended
you do not even start thinking about WTP 1.5.5 until we are completely
done with WTP 2.0. I know
that sounds odd, but you who are familar with software development will
know that some
of our adopters of WTP 1.5.x will not be ready to move off that stream
immediately, not to mention
they often have customers that can hypothetically find a serious bug long
after it's been "in the field"
(well ... 'hypothetically' may not be the right word :).

We really do want to keep fixes in 1.5.5 to a minimum, both to conserve
our energy for WTP 2.0 and WTP 3.0!! but also to ensure stability! The
recent trend of 1.5.3, and 1.5.4 is
122 bugs fixed, to 69 bugs fixed, so if that trend continues linearly,
we'll fix about only 20 bugs in WTP 1.5.5!

One known exception to the "no 1.5.5 work yet" rule will be the RDB team.
They will be opening
some bugzillas soon (or ... maybe they have already?) for some changes
they'd like to make soon
in the RDB 1.5.x stream, and since they do not really have an RDB 2.0
stream it will not be
too much of a distraction for them ... they have some important work to
help provide some small
new features as well as maintain compatibility and easier-evolution to DTP
that they'd like to get into RDB.

Please be aware that WTP 1.5.5 will be the last maintenance on the 1.5.x
stream.

Much thanks to everyone for making this possible! So .. uh, take off the
rest of the day :)
... or, find some other way to congratulate yourself on producing some
great software that's
getting better!

WTP 1.5.4 has been released. Approximately 70 bugs were fixed from our
1.5.3 release.

Those with a previous 1.5 releases already installed need only use Update
Manager to "find
updates for currently installed features". New users of Eclipse 3.2 can
also obtain it by choosing
to "Search for new features to install" within the Update Manager and
selecting the Callisto Discovery
Site. Or, if you prefer, you can still get the zip files from
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/
Be sure to get the exact version of the prerequisite Eclipse software
listed on the build page.
Those pre-reqs haven't changed since WTP 1.5.3, but JEM is no longer
listed as a pre-req
on the downloads page, as we include it directly in the downloadable zip
files.

Rumor has it that "all-in-one" zip files will be available soon.

Much thanks to the committers, contributors, and the community for
providing this release.
