Dunno man, I'm not involved in any private conversations. I work on http://url.spec.whatwg.org/ because nobody else has been defining how to e.g. parse a URL with a space character in it, or how "http:test" is resolved against a URL with the same scheme versus a different scheme, etc. despite repeated requests over the last couple of years. Starting with this email http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/uri/2008Jun/0002.html from Ian back in 2008. My main goal here is to fix problems, make URL implementations interoperable, and improve the JavaScript API for URLs.
