You say that you don't edit your resolv.conf file but that your ISP
gives you a different DNS server each time.  If this is the case how
do your programs know what DNS server to use?  What is in your
resolv.conf file.

It could be that you ISP has changed the DNS server and the ones that
you have in resolv.conf are not valid now.

A lot of the time the editing of the resolv.conf file is done by
programs that do the dialling up.  I know that kppp is one that does
this, there are probably other ones as well.

I don't know any reason why you should have a DNS error like this when
you are offline.  It could be that WWWOFFLE is not being set offline
properly.  Try running 'wwwoffle -offline' and see if it stops the
problem when offline.
