The heading says it all.

When the fetch-time of a URL turns out to be very long - either because
of a poor line or because the content is much larger than anticipated -
is it possible to stop the fetch?

Or - another way of asking the same question - what gets broken, when
issuing an "offline" command in the middle of a "fetch"? And how do I
pick up the pieces?

For the record, I did do some experiments before posting this query.
After stopping such a fetch, I looked at the content of "outgoing". It
listed 3 URLs and said that a further 81 URLs were "not indexed"! And I
was not aware that I had asked for any of the listed URLs.
