Like here I am still on line during my brief modem session. I check
lasttime, and sure enough, page X has already been downloaded. I want
to take a quick look at it (to see if there is anything I want to
click on there to also download before I close my modem session. You
see, it is an index to news stories or search results.)

Well, clicking on it from lasttime would of course bring the page
instantly infront of me if I was offline. However, since I am still
online, yup, a fresh request it sent to the remote server, and the
whole wait begins again. What's worse, if I don't want to stay
connected ($), I risk causing a partial (re)download...

Anyways, a simple solution would be turn on[/off] "don't rerequest
already successfully downloaded things on lasttime if still online",
however, don't go overboard with the special rules like leafnode...

Yes, "the server should include an appropriate expires header", but
anyway...

Yes these are monitored pages. I do the same google and newspaper
searches each day and then click on things I want. Using wwwoffle 2.7a.
