You need to modify the browser autoconfiguration file named wwwoffle.pac. See: http://wp.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/2.0/relnotes/demo/proxy-live.html It is small piece of javascript. If you aren't programmer at all, setting WWWOFFLE to disable caching of PDFs may be sufficient.
