Hello, Editing content management systems through wwwoffle works basically better now, but my solution still is to simply avoid it, by using a second browser (or to have a [de]activate-proxy-button, unfortunately they removed it from galeon, my favourite). But of course i like to have the content stored, and i use to set expiring times of 6 months.
Now there's a typical problem (i mentioned it before on this list). Lets take kwiki.ffii.org, the most problematic (and chaotic) one in this respect. You can request the same page by, eg, http://kwiki.ffii.org/EuDemocracyEn http://kwiki.ffii.org/?EuDemocracyEn http://kwiki.ffii.org/index.cgi?EuDemocracyEn and now they even put up an alias http://wiki.ffii.org/EuDemocracyEn, - which sums up to at least 6 http subtrees. Actually i have different versions from that page. My private cvs :| It's a more general problem. For example, europa.eu.int is the heaviest site i know, and they never will stop to be anytime evrywhere under construction. But lets focus on the rather simple kwiki case. I note there's the 'Alias' section, so my question is, can i make it http://wiki.ffii.org/ = http://kwiki.ffii.org/ http://kwiki.ffii.org/? = http://kwiki.ffii.org/ http://kwiki.ffii.org/index.cgi? = http://kwiki.ffii.org/ and go on happily ? I did set it right now, but i'd appreciate some hints before going to discover in a month or so that i did it all wrong. Are the entries order sensitive, in this case ? A related question is, can i consolidate (merge) the content of the different http subtrees (with a little shell command or script) easily, once the alias setting works ? Well, i just see there are 6366 'visible indexed' pages in the cache now for europa.eu.int alone, which is set to 'never exprie'. It's an experiment in progress...someday i'll have to write a script to check all of them if they're 404, and/or redirected, and delete those. A case for another mail someday... At this point I like to add that wwwoffle is a great opportunity to learn about servers, browsers and apparently also about good website administration, and being just at the merits, also about good mailing list maintainance. Thank you, Andrew. btw. Please excuse the huge amount of typoos im my last email. I guess i was badly tired. /\/
