OK, but I would still make returning a different code a configuration option, suggesting those two codes as possible alternatives, for users for whom 404 would spoil their whole day. You never know. It's all about flexibility. Indeed, you could even go the whole hog, allowing them to even set different return values for Request recorded vs. Request Already Recorded. Indeed, one day the HTTP return code numbering authorities might say "WWWOFFLE has shown us that there are more cases then we originally thought of". Or press "d" now, as its all no big deal.
