I've got Wx::Scintilla building against Mac, Linux, Windows - installed
wxWidgets / system widgets, 32 + 64 bit for windows & linux, system Perl
and odd Perl (Citus, ActivePerl). It's looking pretty good.
Just building an Ubuntu 64 bit Linux for final test (as I noted there
were problems there) and patches + tarball will follow.
Direct answer to your question is:
I have adopted following approach:
Windows - It's always compiled from source.
Elsewhere - it really doesn't matter - you just need to find wx-config
which is always at Alien::wxWidgets->prefix . '/bin/wx-config
You could look at the value of Alien::wxWidgets->prefix.
