Well in fact that's exactly what happened. Not through choice, but I guess if you add an event, wxPerl forces you through that cycle. Anyhow I ran a full compile again to be sure, but I got the same error message. The structure of AUI seems a little different from my old friend MediaCtrl. Anyhow thanks for the input. If you have any flashes of inspiration, it would be much appreciated. Regards Steve.
