Hi,

I am the author of a package of scientific software which uses perl,
wxperl, and a bunch of other things. Here's the homepage for the
package: http://bruceravel.github.io/demeter/ and here is a recent
write-up I did for government.github.com which explains a bit about
the science and what the code does:
http://government.github.com/stories/xas-software/

WxPerl has been one of the enablers of my success in this area. It's
been great! I have many hundreds of users, mostly on Windows, some on
linux.

A colleague is working on developing installation packages for the Mac
using MacPorts. At the moment his rate-limiting step is making a
MacPorts package for wxperl.

Here is a gist with the specifics of the build failure:

  https://gist.github.com/bruceravel/8357561

Is this a version problem? The version of wxWidgets on MacPorts is
3.0. (There is a build of 2.8.12, but only 32 bit.)

So, a few questions:

 * What versions of wxWidgets are supported or known to work?

 * What versions of wxWidgets have people had success using with perl
   on a Mac?

 * Beyond the contents of the gist, is there anything else we can do
   to help troubleshoot?

Thanks!
Bruce
