Hi People,

Firstly, I've just spoken to Vadim and he says that wxWidgets 3.0.1 will be released on or around 15th June and that's nearly upon us! 3.0.1 contains a number of fixes, including the fix to allow gtk3 (the compile currently crashes under 3.0.0).

As you know the current wxPerl only goes as far as 3.0.0, so we need to think about how to update it. It would be nice to have some correspondence about this on the list.

Depending on the complexity of the release, Mark and Mattia have traditionally updated the patch directory in Alien-wxWidgets/patches. You'll see that there are a number of files for each release. As far as I can see the Linux and Mac components are generally simpler than the windows components, but maybe I've missed something.

Secondly, I've just noticed, very belatedly, that Mark has put some wrapping instructions on the wiki here at:

http://wiki.wxperl.nl/Internals_-_Introduction_to_Wx_XS_Wrappers#wxPerl_and_XS_Basics

and here:

http://wiki.wxperl.nl/Overriding_Virtual_Methods

There is also Mattia's original documentation in a .pod file called NewClass.pod in Wx/lib/Wx in your installation which has more doc.

Finally, I'm still hoping to holding a wxPerl get-together in Amsterdam in early September, I'll post details as we get closer. I'm very much hoping we can bolster the wxPerl community with some real face-time.

Very best regards,

Steve.
