Since Johan solved the problem of wxPerl on Windows some time ago, I've
been trying unsuccessfully to find time to dive more into some knowledge
gaps on my side.

I have documented a working Windows development set up at my Perl Guilds
wiki, and I need to add content to the Linux side:

https://wiki.perl-guilds.net/index.php?title=Portal:GUIs_with_Perl

Some knowledge gaps that I want to bridge:

1. how to reliably create distributable Windows EXEs - got much of the way
there, but dealing with assets like images is not exactly automatic I've
found
2. create "install" scripts - I cover that a bit here
<https://wiki.perl-guilds.net/index.php?title=Developing_and_Distributing_wxPerl_Applications_on_Windows>,
but I need to really dive into it; I think chatgpt might prove helpful here

Once I answer those 2 points above I plan on scheduling a Houston Perl
Mongers virtual meeting to present a summary and do some demos.

I would also like to give a shout-out to wxGlade's developer, he's been
very responsive on Github. There is also a working announcement email list
associated with the project, you can see both links here
<https://wiki.perl-guilds.net/index.php?title=Developing_and_Distributing_wxPerl_Applications_on_Windows#Getting_wxGlade_Help>
.

Finally, my goal for the Perl Guilds wiki is to create a resource for Perl
programmers that is similar to the wiki community around FreePascal
<https://wiki.freepascal.org/> and their Lazarus IDE. If you would to
contribute to the wxPerl section (or others), please let me know. I am
going at this as a solo-project, but I would be more than appreciative to
get subject matter experts to be editors for certain topics.

I'd also be interested to hear about what others might be working on and
what challenges/solutions you may have encountered recently.

Cheers,
Brett Estrade
