Tim--
I'm also a new user/tester, who's just been through the installation.
I've tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Sun and IBM's Java 5 &
6 JVMs with Eclipse 3.2 and had little or no luck assembling a working
configuration. However, despite the instructions (which could perhaps
use some update) with Eclipse 3.3.1.1 and a (32 bit or 64 bit) Java 5
JVM (not java 6) from either Sun or IBM, I've been able to install
3.2.66 (which doesn't work) and then update to 3.2.70 (which issues
PolyGlot errors on start up, but does work). It took several passes of
fiddling around to make it work. At some point I'm might try to find the
time to assemble a clean install procedure.
I've actually had the best experience with the X10 v1.5 command line
tools (x10c/x10) using 32/64 bit version 5 or 6 JVMs from Sun and IBM.
They've been both stable and reliable. however, if I recall correctly,
you'll have to grab PolyGlot 2.2.3 though because 2.3.0 (latest) didn't
work.
Best Regards,
