Yes there is, in org.macosforge.xquartz.X11, use this to read out all
currently set options:
defaults read org.macosforge.xquartz.X11
To check the current DPI in use, use this command:
xdpyinfo | grep -i resolution
To change the DPI from 96 to 72 use this (Quit X11.app before):
defaults write org.macosforge.xquartz.X11 dpi -int 72
