There are open tickets about it, but nobody has really volunteered to look into it specifically. El Capitan's split view mode also adds other functionality that would need to be contended with. As you may be aware, XQuartz doesn't really use Cocoa in the "normal" way, so there are a lot of things like the above that don't "just work".
