OS rev should not affect ~/.Xresources use; having a .xinitrc instead of a
.xinitrc.d/*.sh probably would though.

Standard X11 doesn't have a good story for font antialiasing, but see

Someone ported Infinality to OS X as patches to MacPorts'
fontconfig/freetype2, I don't think it's been committed though; might check
trac.macports.org for the patch ticket.
