Well, if I click directly on X11.app, I get the same results but with no shell
messages.

If I try to run a window manager directly, xinit will also launch quartz-wm
(/opt/local/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/99-quartz-wm.sh) resulting in an error :

$ wmaker &
[1] 30790
$ wmaker(StartUp(startup.c:636)): fatal error : It seems another window manager
is already active. (my translation).

I tried to make a stub to go around the problem :

USERWM=/usr/bin/true

but it only resulted in X11.app starting and crashing perpetually every 10
seconds or so.

I had also tried before things like

~/.xinitrc.d/00-setwm.sh :
USERWM=/opt/local/bin/startxfce4

but obviously to no great results.

Thanks

yves
