To be clear, setting the X11 timeout in ssh does allow idle connections to stay up. WR Stevens said that "keep alive" is more properly called "make dead", because an idle connection can tolerate transient losses of connectivity, whereas failure to hear a heartbeat from the remote leads to disconnection, even while there was no need to communicate. --jkl _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
