FWIW: - modern rsync versions as the one in MacPorts have --hfs-compression and --protect-decmpfs and are thus safe for use with HFS compressed filesystems
- check out CarbonCopyCloner as an alternative/complement to TimeMachine. It's more a cloning tool, but it has the option to preserve removed files. For the ultimate alternative to TimeMachine there's set of scripts written on top of ZFS (openzfsonosx.org), using that filesystem's snapshot feature. I forget the name but it shouldn't be hard to find. R. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. They will be ignored.
