Thanks Mick,

I think we need to start a slob-user club (-:   Like you, I have a modest need 
for X11, in my case to run the version of emacs I like best and my favorite 
terminal emulator, Eterm. 

So any practical experience or advice on whether to jump back to XQuartz would 
be much appreciated.  I would prefer not to take the time to be the pioneer on 
this one.  

Running BigSur on a Mac mini with M1 processor.
