It's endemic since the pandemic.  Attention to detail is passé.  

I was the maintainer of FreeTDS for some years and I'm still the owner
of [email protected].  Once and again someone writes to the
list and the list asks for moderation.  At some point they or I -- they
think I, I think they -- lost track of my password, meaning I can't
moderate messages, meaning I can't let them through or delete them, and
can't stop the system from notifying me of them.  To fix that, of
course the do-it-by-email window has been closed.  I have to log in.

I wrote to the administrator-of-administrators, and never heard back.
Doubtless no one ever read my message, possibly never saw it.  Like so
many systems, it's a zombie.  No one can use it and no one can shut it
down .
