Hi List,

I'm still having issues getting client-side printing to work.

The server is running Debian Squeeze, with the following X2Go- and
CUPS-related packages installed:

ii cups 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server
ii cups-bsd 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD commands
ii cups-client 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - client programs (SysV) ii cups-common 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - common files
ii cups-driver-gutenprint 5.2.6-1 printer drivers for CUPS
ii cups-ppdc 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - PPD manipulation utilities
ii cups-x2go 3.0.0.3-0~x2go1+squeeze~main~54~build1 X2GO printer for CUPS
ii cupsddk 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System (transitional package)
ii cupsys 1.3.8-1+lenny10 Common UNIX Printing System (transitional package)
ii cupsys-client 1.3.8-1+lenny10 Common UNIX Printing System (transitional package) ii ghostscript-cups 8.71~dfsg2-9 The GPL Ghostscript PostScript/PDF interpreter - CUPS filters ii hplip-cups 3.10.6-2 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - CUPS Raster driver (hpcups)
ii libcups2 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - Core library
ii libcupscgi1 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - CGI library ii libcupsdriver1 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - Driver library ii libcupsimage2 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - Raster image library ii libcupsmime1 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - MIME library ii libcupsppdc1 1.4.4-7+squeeze1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - PPD manipulation library ii libxcompext3 1:3.5.0-1-0~x2go-bpo1+lenny~main~36~build1 NX X11 protocol compression extensions library ii libxcompshad3 3.5.0-2-0~x2go-bpo1+lenny~main~24~build1 NX shadowing library ii x2go-keyring 2011.12.07+squeeze~main~12~build1 GnuPG keys of X2go developers ii x2goagent 3.5.0.2-0~x2go1+squeeze~main~49~build1 Special X2go-ized X agent, forked from NX-X11 (NoMachine) ii x2goserver 3.0.99.8-0~x2go1+squeeze~main~373~build1 X2go server daemon scripts ii x2goserver-extensions 3.0.99.8-0~x2go1+squeeze~main~373~build1 X2go server daemon scripts (extensions) ii x2goserver-printing 3.0.99.8-0~x2go1+squeeze~main~373~build1 X2go server daemon scripts (printing)

I decided not to update the two libxcomp* packages, as they don't seem relevant to the issue and trying to update them means temporarily adding heuler sources, which I'd like to avoid.

As you can see, I now have both printing-related packages installed: cups-x2go and x2goserver-printing. I tried adding the printer via the CUPS web interface, and also via the commandline (lpadmin -p "Virtual_X2GO_Printer" -v "cups-x2go:/" -D "Virtual X2GO Printer" -L "local workstation printer" -E -m "lsb/usr/cups-x2go/CUPS-X2GO.ppd"), to see if it makes a difference - it does not.

On the client side (Windows 7 Home Premium, German, 32-bit) I installed X2Go Client V. 3.99.0.2. I enabled client-side printing in the session settings, and configured the local default printer in the X2Go Client general settings. I also tried the other options like having the PDF shown instead, or the "save PDF file" option.

Nothing happens when I try to print (I tried to print a test page from the CUPS web interface as well as a web page from the browser).
CUPS claims to have processed the job, but it goes nowhere.

I also tried a Windows XP SP3, German, 32-bit client, with the same settings - same result. :-(

Does Client-side printing only work with full desktop sessions? (I only tried it with a single application - the web browser - as I don't have a full DE installed on that server.)

What do I have to do to get this working?

Kind Regards,
Stefan
