We built the 1.3 AIX distribution on 4.3, so it should be fine. Without knowing more about the error, I don't think I can help. We've never tested Xalan on 5.1.

Many apologies if this has been asked here before, but I didn't see these
questions in the archives:
1) After I set up the Xalan 1.3 distribution on my AIX 4.3.3 box, I tried
to
some of the test programs. Unfortunately, any program I run always gives
the
same result - the program segfaults with an illegal instruction. Has anyone
else seen this, and if so, what did you do to get around it?
2) Is the Xalan 1.3 release known to work under AIX 5.1?
