Thanks for the response. I don't think Service Pack 5 of Visual C++ 6.0 contain Dinkumware patches (at least not all of them). We recently ran into this problem (performance related) and had to update the template classes (fstream and sstream). Can any body confirm that SP5 contains Dinkumware patches?
