A couple of notes:
-- Actually, you should get Xalan project
distributions from http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/dist
(Note the extra '-j' in there!) Published
documentation about the latest supported build (which
includes doc for the xsltc portion of the Xalan
project) is always posted at
http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/
-- This xalan-dev list is for supporting the Xalan
XSLT processor, which includes two basic XSLT engines:
the xalan one, which has always been here, and a new
version of an old Sun project called XSLTC. I'm not
sure what support Sun provides for old versions of
XSLTC. We'll try to provide what support we can for
any new versions of xalan/xsltc here.
-- It *really* helps when reporting bugs if you supply
all the pertinent details. This includes things like
the specific product version you're using, your JDK
version and operating system, and either full code
samples or at least snippets of code or xml/xsl files
to show how you reproduced a problem.

You are using a very old preview version of XSTLC with
the old "com.sun.xslt" packaging.
You'll need to download a more recent version of XSLTC
since its donation to Apache. You can get the
user distribution from
xml.apache.org/xalan
Or, even better, since this is on the developer alias,
you can download the latest build.
