.tar.gz has filenames over 100 chars within it and
requires a GNU-compatible tar program to properly
untar it. This is a limitation of the way that Ant
(our build tool, see http://jakarta.apache.org/ant)
creates .tar files. Suggestions for improvements are
appreciated.
