I must admit to being pretty lazy about this too. I have 1.1.8 on one of my
machines but have really not compiled with it in a while. I know we do when
we do a reference release.

I don't check this often enough... but as it happens, I have multiple JVMs
installed on my machine and can switch between them quite easily by
resetting the paths.
And occasionally I'll bring Xalan up under Microsoft VJ++ to use its
debugger (yeah, I know, I need to find a better tool), and since that's a
1.1.something environment it forces me to fix any obvious problems that
have crept in.
