Note to non-committers: please use caution when actually resolving XalanJ2 bugs - if 
you're not absolutely positive that it's a bug and can show supporting evidence, then 
please just post a comment in the bug and leave it open instead of resolving it, so 
the committers will actually see it in the list.  (Of course we should really come out 
with a set of Xalan project Bugzilla guidelines... someday)

In this case, though, I agree with Joerg, in that RTFs cannot be used this way.  No, 
we do not have any plans to support any parts of the XSLT 1.1 spec, which as far as I 
can tell most people consider to be dead.  At some point we'll start implementing XSLT 
2.0 features once that spec is further along and once we have the development cycles.
In the meantime, you could use the xalan:evaluate built-in extension to do what you 
want.
