I'm not sure why this is the case except that you do need to be very careful of what is in the lib/ext directory. I don't really have clear picture of what was in there in your jdk 1.2 versus your jdk 1.3. If you'd like to leave everything the way it is, that's fine. If you have the time and would like to try to switch back to jdk 1.3, please let me know and we'll try to track this problem down. Gary
