Slightly off topic as it is a w3c issue, but I am interested as to the lists thoughts as to why is it that xpath translate() ignores additional characters when the replacement string is longer than the original but deletes characters if the replacement string is shorter? This doesn't seem logical to me. I only sent this post as I was about to raise it as a bug before I looked at the w3c spec!!
