Could you tell us a bit more about what "it fails" means? Do you get an exception, and if so which one and what's the stack trace? This _could_ be a problem with your servelet's classloader not successfully retrieving everything we need... or, if you aren't using the latest versions of Xalan, with Xalan not remembering to attempt using the Context Class Loader for absolutely everything.
