The -Xbootclasspath solution works. The endorsed standards override does not, at least not for my version of the j2sdk: F:\>java -version java version "1.4.0" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-b92) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-b92, mixed mode) I'm sorry I don'T have much time to look further into it :(
