Xalan developers and committers:
please do not put any new author credits in our code.
A vote was held by the Apache Xalan PMC (Project Management Committee)
on the proposal that:
> no new author credits be introduced into source
> files for the Xalan processors or source for the documentation
> accompanying the processors, except that, with each new release,
> we provide in the documentation a complete list of the new features
> and bug fixes that went into that release, with credits to each
> individual for his or her contributions.
>
> Existing author credits in the source will be left as is,
> unless someone has reconstructed the equivalent contribution
> credits for past releases of the processors.
The proposal has passed.
The push for this is coming from the Apache board, which in the past has
indicated its wishes with statements
like this one from the minutes of the Apache Board Meeting of 2004-09-22
[1]:
F. Confirming that the current stance on @author tags as
per Greg's email message of February is still appropriate
(Recommend strongly that @author is avoided; but leave it to
each PMC to make the final call with their respective
communities.).
This was confirmed.
