building xalan-c 1.9 on interix platform (aka SFU aka SUA)

Hi, Are there any instructions for building xalan-c 1.9 on interix? I ask because "runConfigure -h" does not list interix as a valid platform value "runConfigure -h" for the pre-req i.e. xerces-c 2.6 DOES list interix as a valid platform so I was wondering if  xalan-c will include a way to build on interix in the near future or if there is a work-around someone would kindly share? Thanks
