I had really hoped that we could get the 2.7.1 release out in December 2006. We had some unexpected regressions, some of which were real, and some of which were due to a bad classpath while testing. That seems to be resolved now.
The only things holding us up are a legal packaging issue ( http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XALANJ-2358 ) and getting the PMC approval of the 2.7.1 branch once that JIRA issue is resolved. Even if we asked the PMC to vote now, there is a two week window in which votes can be cast, and I'd guess that some PMC members are taking holidays right now. In other words December and the holidays make it look like a no-go. - Brian Apache Xalan PMC Member
