Thanks!  I did try that last night and it worked.  I was totally fooled by the 
terminology, I thought that it didn't matter what the default was if I 
over-rode it in the device setup screen, how wrong I was!  Thanks for taking 
the time to reply, all is well now with ve3id-8.
