This is still not KISS, it's regular ASCII APRS packets. It needs to be a Serial TNC and not a Serial KISS TNC interface in Xastir.
If it still hangs trying to open the interface, though, the issue is not with the data but with the serial port configuration --- either something's amiss with permissions, settings, or the port name.
