Hi Jim,

I sometimes apply an "opposite" solution using UI-View in a Windows VM with Linux host and a SCS Tracker TNC on USB port.
Serial use from Windows ton Linux is probably the same concept for you.

Following Steve's advice, may be can you catch the physical serial port from your Win10 host session to the Linux VM.

I think virtualbox or VMware player have a settings for serial port settings.
You to select a serial port, in xastir on top toolbar select
interface>interface control and select add. Select serial tnc, if your using a
usb port /dev/ttyUSB0 for port. Select dev/ttyS0 if you have a db9 serial port. I
know many computers don’t have them but my new one had it.

Subject: [Xastir] Serial connection with virtual machine issue???

Hello all,
Trying to run XASTIR in a ubuntu virtual session from windows 10 pro. I'm able
to get the program up and running, however it just won't transmit.
What to do? Using a Kantronics Kam XL as the TNC. The TNC is verified as
working with other programs.
