I've had occasional problems and had to go back to the user home dir, and do a complete cvs copy from scratch. My config's right, but something else is unhappy. Doing a full download was easier/faster than troubleshooting.

multiple times with no problems.

Make sure you typed the line properly with no breaks.  I think the
example lines on the SourceForge CVS page might get wrapped on you.
