This is Josh, AB9FT in Sheboygan, once again. I sent a message a while back ago that was looking for a way for a client program in my situation (Xastir/MacAPRS) to be able to connect to a server that has a 144.390 port for my Mac to get out into the RF via the network. Very strangely, I was looking around for something else about Xastir, (trying to get my weather station to work with it), and "FINALLY" figured out that Xastir had a "server" option in it for clients to access it and get what it receives via RF. In my opinion, for doing that is much better, for two reasons. One, I don't have to login which makes any program work with it. I have tried MacAPRS and have successfully connected to it. Xastir, has been tried also and it works. Second, reason, and it was strange in some sense, but I didn't see all of the RF packets via APRSD (for instance my WX station which is running a different program on the same computer).
However, it apparently isn't sending anything from "Igate" to RF as my transmissions with my Mac client come up as TCPIP* only and not via RF my Xastir machine. I am not connected to any Internet servers via Xastir and is only listening on the local network. I think there was a Xastir "group" thread somewhere about this. I want to go through this and I think there was a discussion about the same situation that I am with now. That actually gave me the idea to try this. I don't think it is an issue with versions as the Mac client one and Xastir are somewhat recent (not CVS ones). Its a start with the Xastir server ports, and am pleased with receiving off it, but it would be nice to transmit as well. I have received a response to enable the "Igate -> RF and RF-> Igate" functions for the RF port and the default config. I don't think it worked, but I may have to restart Xastir to see if it changes anything. Your help will be appreciated. 73 Josh, AB9FT ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never Miss an Email Stay connected with Yahoo! Mail on your mobile.
