That would be hugely useful to me.
The ability to create a coordinated, distributed,
common operating picture for a search & rescue
effort. Like NetMeeting for S&R.
Could I talk someone into that? :-)

Nope. CAD objects aren't APRS objects. There was talk of making
it possible
to transmit "multipoint" objects like the NWS does for "areas of
maximum
concern" but that is not in any version of Xastir yet.
CAD objects are purely on-screen drawings.
