I don't know much about the 2 either. The 3+ is better than the 3 when it comes to doing a full-blown digipeater, or using the TNC as a tracker when it's not hooked up to Xastir. Also, the 3+ is a currently manufactured item, whereas the 3 is not. I suspect the 2 is older yet.
