Hello All,

I tried out Sabayon Linux version 3.5 recently, and I am satisfied
enough with it to keep it on my dedicated linux desktop. Being new to
Linux last year, I've been trying out a lot of different versions -
it's amazing to me how many there are. Some of my friends and
co-workers that are more experienced with Linux than I am have talked
about Gentoo, but I never got around to taking the time to
install/build it. Sabayon is more like a typical Linux distro when it
comes to installation, but it uses the Gentoo portage system for
package management, which means it installs various packages from
source. It also has a binary package installation system, but so far
I don't like it too much - seems to me it still needs some work.

Anyway, I kept track of what I did to build Xastir in Sabayon 3.5, and
there is a new HowTo in the installation notes section of the Wiki at
http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/Installation_Notes

Fyi, I noticed the installation notes for Gentoo in the Xastir Wiki
say to use "emerge xastir", but when I tried that in Sabayon, it could
not find anything with that name. It appears that Sabayon is using
the same repositories, but perhaps not exactly. No worries, though,
because I wanted to install from CVS, anyway.
