Dear Kurt Thiede, I maintain a popular web page devoted to cross country skiing called Madnordski <http://www.danenet.org/madnord/>. I've read a number of reports from cross country skiers who are both excited by our more typical snow conditions and disappointed at the lack of groomed trails. Many trails have not been groomed because of the T zone dear hunt. From what I can tell, there are still a fair number of skiers hitting the trails many of these might not be prepared for the bang for the guns or dressed in blaze orange. Based on these reports, I'd assume that there is a greater danger of an accidental shooting than is reasonable. There is no doubt that the T zone hunt has interfered with early season skiing. Another result of the T zone hunt is that Wisconsin businesses that rely on cross country skiing for winter income are being deprived of early season business. I would strongly urge the DNR to limit future T zone hunts to prior to Thanksgiving instead of after. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph King -- Joseph J.
