overwritten

For the statefull installation, the console in the /etc/inittab should be
configured by the kernel parameters. Show it from /proc/cmdline.
If removing the postbootscripts will ignore this issue, you need to look
into the postbootscripts to see what happens in it.
# cat /proc/cmdline
ro root=LABEL=/ console=ttyS0,19200n8r rhgb quiet

Thanks
Best Regards

Subject: [xcat-user] serial console not working - inittab overwritten

Hello all,

We're facing a strange issue with serial console and inittab -
a clean statefull installation works fine and we can rcons to the nodes
after.
Running our postscripts manually after installation one by one works OK
and we can rcons to the nodes after that with no issues.
However, when we run a full installation, after running our
postbootscripts we loose the SOL (starting crond [ OK ] is the last thing
we see).
Looking into inittab - we're missing the console line -
co:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -h ttyS0 115200 (taken from other machine i
have in my lab since i can't copy-paste from the actual machine)

Adding this line manually solves the problem.
Somewhere in the installation process the inittab get rewritten and we
loose the SOL (only for the OS, hw works ok), we just wonder what could
cause that?
Any ideas?

p.s installation works fine, including post scripts, looks like the only
think broken is the console line in inittab.

thx in advance.
