need to change the imaging process a little bit for debugging. In
the end it is nothing more than a "rpm --root=$IMGROOT --rebuilddb"

It does seem that your rpm database in the image got messed up.
When you did the rebuild, did you try to remove your old rpm
database files before the rebuild?
cd /install/netboot/centos5.5/x86_64/compute/rootimg/var/lib/rpm
and rename/remove the __db.* files
Then you can try to rebuild directly (without having to change
genimage):
chroot /install/netboot/centos5.5/x86_64/compute/rootimg
rpm --rebuilddb
You can try other chroot rpm cmds to see if your rpm database in
the image is now good.
If none of that works, and you get really desperate, would it be
too painful to remove the image (xCAT rmimage command), and run a
clean genimage from scratch?

does anybody knows about trouble with rpmdb. When I try to
rebuild my
systemimage with the perl genimage tool from xcat, I get rpmdb
errors,
everytime at the same point:
rpmdb: page 26: illegal page type or format
rpmdb: PANIC: Invalid argument
rpmdb:
/install/netboot/centos5.5/x86_64/compute/rootimg/var/lib/rpm/Filemd5s:
pgin failed for page 26
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
The last message is repeated many times.. Tried to fix it with
some rpm
--rebuilddb commands added to the genimage script..
has anybody any ideas?
