Right, it'd just be in the sles plugin since autoyast does it *only* via the kernel command line and redhat needs the pre magic because it's in the kickstart file instead.
We do have a pre section in autoyast, in 2.7 it is used for auto-detect partition plans (so far only detecting UEFI/PPC/legacy), but wouldn't factor into this. I have had a mind to filter out SAN devices by default and perhaps offer an alternative set for those *intentionally* doing boot from SAN. Maybe do something a bit more sophisticated and ignore all drives with gpfs magic on them. I'd like to add a qualified "yes" to having http/nfs choice. We don't use RHEL, but SLES, so %pre doesn't come into play, but I'd like the option for autoyast too. Currently, we go in after any xCAT rpm update and modify /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT_plugin/sles.pm to put in nfs: in place of http:, since we've found nfs installs to be much quicker than http. As long as we remember to do the hack... As for what to put it under, maybe noderes.installtype or something similar? that would give the option of having nodegroups be either/or... _________________________________ Douglas Myers, IBM Special Events _________________________________ "It's not an opportunity if it doesn't scare you a little bit" |------------> | From: | |------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Jarrod B Johnson/Raleigh/IBM@IBMUS | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |------------> | To: | |------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |"xCAT Users Mailing list" <[email protected]> | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |------------> | Date: | |------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |11/15/2011 11:51 AM | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |------------> | Subject: | |------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |[xcat-user] dynamic 'url' in RedHat type installs, config driven http/nfs selection. | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Fyi, I'm moving to having the %pre section change url on the fly in the default templates. My main goal is to default to inferring install server from netboot server (like the stateless stuff does today), but also making nfs or http selection a config parameter instead of a template change seems reasonable. Of those interested, would you want me to bother with this and if so, what sort of table.column would you like or do you think having your own custom template is the most straightforward approach. Anyway, at a minimum, noderes.nfsserver becomes an optional field with this set of changes unless your custom templates require it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSA(R) Conference 2012 Save $700 by Nov 18 Register now http://p.sf.net/sfu/rsa-sfdev2dev1 _______________________________________________ xCAT-user mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xcat-user ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSA(R) Conference 2012 Save $700 by Nov 18 Register now http://p.sf.net/sfu/rsa-sfdev2dev1 _______________________________________________ xCAT-user mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xcat-user
